Worlds Between Words opened on November 19, 2021, as part of the year-long Poule Program, MaMA Rotterdam. The exhibition aimed to highlight a complex dynamic of stories that exist in the city of Rotterdam, transported by a history of migrating people. Transparent walls created from PVC corrugated sheets run through MaMA, carving a labyrinth into the space. From outside visitors can see a glimmer or flash of coloured lights.

WBW follows the theme of language; examining language outside of established linguistic frameworks and focusing on forms of storytelling that encapsulate intimate migrative experiences. The stories encountered in this labyrinth ask visitors to be attentive to the nuances they may feel, hear or see and by doing so enter a world of a distant sea, a singing monster, scripts from an afterworld and the power of the pronounced name.

Artists - Ada M. Patterson, Cihad Caner, Gilang Anom M. M. & Tarona
